The City of Palm Desert Championship Has Been Cancelled
We have experienced an unusually cool Spring season, which allowed our cool-season grasses to flourish much longer than anticipated. This has led to transition challenges as we shift back to warm-season grasses.
While our tees, fairways, and rough have transitioned adequately, our greens have struggled, resulting in significant discoloration. Consequently, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s City of Palm Desert Championship.
Our Firecliff course will be closed for renovations all summer, and we will be doing everything possible to restore Mountain View to its pristine playing conditions as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding as we work through this unexpected challenge.
We anticipate the 2025 City of Palm Desert Championship to be bigger and better than ever!
We will process full refunds for all entry fees in the coming days. You should expect to see refunds 5-7 days after receiving a notification email about your refund.

Flight Information
The field will be split into two flights: Flight A and Flight B. Flights will be determined based on participation levels.
Teams will compete in an “open” format.
Gross + Net
Net players may select any tee box. Course handicaps will be adjusted based on the tees you choose. Gross players will be required to play from the qualifying tee boxes.
Net Only
Players may select any tee box. Course handicaps will be adjusted based on the tees you choose.

Eligibility to compete for Gross awards will require playing the following qualifying tee boxes.

Current USGA/GHIN Handicap from May 2024 required for any net competition but will not be required for gross flight. The index taken will be what’s current on May 15, 2024.

One of the more resort-style Southern California golf courses is Mountain View with wider fairways and limited desert waste areas. But don’t be deceived; Mountain View, measuring 6,913 yards, is rated just slightly less difficult than Firecliff. With more forgiving fairways, 98 well-placed bunkers, sloping greens and seven water features, Mountain View still requires the best from golfers of all levels.
